My Eyes Are Papid:
“Beauty is only skin deep, yeah yeah” song so gloriously by the Temptation.. It’s funny how inspiration comes. Thinking about what can I share with my PAPIDERS ha ha and it hit me, through song.. THANKS TEMPS, you will always be great. Now, my point. SKIN, SKIN, SKIN and more SKIN, here we are entering into the summer months and my skin usually is the first thing to show it’s the summer time. Oily, shiny, break-outs and it seems like all the unwanted pimples, black-heads, in-grown hairs finds the sun somehow to reveal EVERYTHING.. This summer we all are going to be ready, SO BRING IT ON MR. SUNSHINE, WE READY! I will be sharing some skin regiments must do’s, ol’school wisdom, and helpful products to keep us all sun-kissed instead of sun-burned. Nice skin is genetic, but that does not mean we can not achieve. Here we go..
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
Rule: Determine your skin-type… oily, combination, or dry.. I was told by a good friend of mines, we do not have sensitive skin.. It just your skin can be more prone to allergic reactions. After determining your skin type use products that will suitable for your skin
Develop a skin regiment: CLEANSE, EXFOLIATE (AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK), TONER, AND MOISTURIZER... very simple... Repeat after me... CLEANSE, EXFOLIATE, TONER AND MOISTURIZER...
PREP BEFORE SHAVING: Exfoliating before shaving helps avoid in-grown hairs. Also for my brown brothers, I do not know what this stuff has in it, but I never saw my father or grandfathers with razor bumps. BLUE MAGIC, it stinks, but it works…
NOTE: when choosing an exfoliate, stay away from harsh and abrasive scrubs... How to test ? Simply use a drop on the back of your hand, if it is too rough, this will result in micro-scaring in your face which allows unseen bacteria to creep underneath skin to cause nasty underneath the skin pimples.. YUCK..
POP A PILL: VITAMEN E
Rule: Vitamin E pills capsule can be popped to apply topical uses directly to the skin.
Wow, Vitamin E pill goes along way... This cheap way of protecting your skin also allows for other healing methods as well. Check it out; Vitamin E is good for reducing the appearances of stress marks, age spots, blemishes. It help aids in low sperm counts, prostate cancer, breast cancer, asthma, immune system booster and so much more….
OL’SCHOOL
A special thanks to my late grandmother “Zella Mae Montgomery” she always told us to use VASELINE, vaseline is the key to great skin. I never knew why all my baby photos I was so shiny, but it's true! VASELINE is like the mother board to all moisturizers.. I love this stuff. It is good for elbows, lips, knees, heels of your feet . For the one’s who suffer with extremely dry skin after showering indulge in Vaseline from head to toe and begin to see the visible difference.. ( Some makeup artist may have different reviews, clogging pores is what they say, oh well our friend Tyra Banks swears by this stuff.
LADIES: I also ran into another little secret MILK AND HONEY BATHS ( grandma never told me about this one and now I know why) lol. Great for achieving nice soft skin.. It’s the summer time and body parts will be shown (tastefully, I hope).. So, take a load off and try this at least once a week. VERY RELAXING and it has other good elements, but you can research that at your leisure. Lol..
The Recipe: MILK AND HONEY BATH
Rule: after mixture is made, for future purposes buy a nice glass container to hold your bath, decorate with cute ribbion or use as decor in your bathroom, fellas this is also a good gift…..
1. Mix powered milk and hot water until smooth in a mixing bowel add about ½ honey and mix again.
Optional : Fragrant beads or bath crystals of your choice.. Lavender is mine (relaxing)
2. Run hot water in bath tub
3.While water is running, pour mixture underneath hot water like you would for bubble bath. Simply indulge, grab a good book, candles are always nice and a good cd.. John Coltrane, jazz lover. Very soothing…

Thanks for the tips..I will head to the store after work. I was just thinking I needed something for my skin, I am having breakouts like crazy! This is not the time or the season, so hopefully your tips will work!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions for what to cleanse, exfoliate, tone, or moisturize with?
ReplyDeleteAnd where do you get powdered milk?
Reply Shawn Davis:
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on your skin type.. Most of us our combination. For more darker skin women, I recommend AMBI skin care line, I LOVE!! Dermalogica product line works well with almost everyone.. I little more costly, but worth it. Oh yeah, the powdered milk you can pick up at Wal-mart.. Try it tonight. Awesome
